Proud to Be Travelife Certified
Worthing Court Apartment Hotel is proud to be Travelife Certified, reflecting our commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism. The Travelife Collection
Travelife is an internationally recognised sustainability certification programme for accommodation providers. Certification considers a wide range of responsible tourism practices, including environmental management, labour and human rights, community engagement and the way hotels manage their wider social and environmental impact.
For us, Travelife certification represents more than an achievement. It provides a framework that helps us continually review the way we operate, measure our progress and identify opportunities to improve — for our guests, our team, our community and the environment.

We are continually looking for practical ways to reduce the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations.
Our initiatives include monitoring our energy and water consumption and waste production, introducing low-energy lighting, installing flow restrictors, sourcing more sustainable products and working towards the use of solar power. We also continually review the cleaning products used throughout the hotel and, wherever possible, seek more environmentally friendly alternatives.
In 2024, Worthing Court set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from energy, water and waste by 30% by the end of 2030.
By 31 December 2025, our recorded total greenhouse gas emissions had decreased from 66,332.19 kg CO2e in 2024 to 13,086.62 kg CO2e in 2025. This improvement was primarily driven by reduced energy consumption, lower water usage, improved recording and substantial reductions in waste sent to landfill.
We are proud of this progress, but we know there is more to do.
Our 2026 Sustainability Goals
For 2026, we have established a new set of measurable targets to keep that progress moving forward.
Our goals include:
- Reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions by 8% compared with 2025, including replacing existing lighting with energy-efficient LEDs, upgrading air-conditioning units in at least 30% of apartments and strengthening energy monitoring.
- Reducing water consumption by 5% per guest night through low-flow showerheads and tap aerators, our towel and linen reuse programme and quicker identification and repair of leaks.
- Reducing landfill waste and increasing recycling by 10%, including expanding recycling facilities, improving waste segregation and introducing composting for organic kitchen waste where operationally feasible.
- Continuing to support local community projects and organisations.
These goals help us turn our wider sustainability commitments into practical actions that can be measured and improved over time.
Barbados’ natural environment is one of the things that makes our island so special, and we believe we have a responsibility to help protect it.
At Worthing Court, we are committed to maintaining our gardens responsibly by choosing native and climate-appropriate plants, conserving water and limiting the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals.
We also work to protect local wildlife and natural habitats and encourage our guests, employees, suppliers and partners to respect Barbados’ plants, animals and ecosystems.
Sustainability is about people as much as it is about the environment.
As part of the Worthing community, we want tourism to have a positive impact beyond the boundaries of our hotel.
Worthing Court supports local organisations and initiatives, including the Aunty Olga Foundation and Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary. We aim to involve both our team and our guests in supporting these organisations and the work they do within Barbados.
We also continue to participate in fundraising activities that support local projects and our wider community.
Responsible tourism also means ensuring that people are treated fairly and with dignity and respect.
Worthing Court is committed to respecting and protecting human rights and creating an inclusive and respectful workplace. Our team receives regular guidance and training designed to prevent discrimination and promote fairness and respect throughout the hotel.
These principles extend to the way we interact with our guests, suppliers, partners and wider community.
We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
Worthing Court has a strict policy requiring suspected instances of child exploitation or abuse to be reported to the appropriate authorities. We encourage our staff, guests and visitors to report any concerns regarding the exploitation or abuse of children to the Barbados Child Care Board.

Our guests are an important part of our sustainability efforts.
There are plenty of simple ways to make your stay at Worthing Court a little more environmentally friendly. We encourage guests to conserve water, switch off lights and air-conditioning when they are not needed, participate in our towel and linen reuse programme and minimise waste wherever possible.
We also encourage you to experience Barbados responsibly: respect our wildlife and natural spaces, discover local culture, shop and dine locally and support the businesses and communities that make our island unique.
Small choices made by many people can have a meaningful impact.
